The Centre for Translation Studies (CTS) supports the professional practice of translating and interpreting through its research, consultancy and teaching.

  • Research - The national research review (RAE 2008) found that 80% of CTS research (in Computational Linguistics) was "world leading" or "internationally excellent", with 20 per cent being "recognized internationally".
  • Consultancy -- The Centre evaluates clients' needs in translation technologies and offers training in the use of a wide range of translation tools. Current corpus tools development is sponsored by Google and the Translation Automation Users Society.
  • Teaching -- The centre offers a range of vocationally oriented MAs and Postgraduate Diplomas, all supported by state-of-the-art facilities and contributions from experienced practitioners
